- By State of Connecticut law, you have the right to have your vehicle repaired at a facility of your choice. They may not interfere in that choice.
- The difference between you and the insurance company concerning collision repair is that it's your vehicle, not theirs. You make the decision on a repair facility.
- The insurance company must pay for a rental car during repairs if you are a claimant. Your policy may include this option; check with your agent.
- You are entitled to have your vehicle repaired back to pre-loss condition.
- If your vehicle was towed from the scene of an accident, you may have it towed to a facility of your choice at no charge to you.
- Remember you have a contract (policy) with your insurance company. You're the customer. Do not let them treat you as anything but a customer.
- Some insurance companies may allow for the use of aftermarket parts (parts made by someone other then the original manufacturer). Ask us how this may affect you.
- Insurance company appraisers are not the repair professionals; we are the licensed repair professionals. Their input is considered, but we will make the final call on the proper repair procedure.
- The insurance company's talk about guaranteeing the repairs is meaningless because they're not the ones repairing the vehicle. By law, they are prohibited from repairing vehicles. So how would they be able to guarantee anything?
- The insurance company's Number One issue is money. They are in business to pay dividends (profits) to their shareholders, not to pay out for losses. Remember this when dealing with them; it will help in understanding their motives in how they handle your claim. Their motives may not be in your best interests and may be contrary to what they are obligated to provide for you.
- You paid for insurance coverage, so why hesitate to use it when the need arises? Ask yourself, "Who would pay for a service then be reluctant to use it?" The cost of repairing most vehicles today far exceeds a person's ability to pay without insurance.
- Insurance company appraisers will always underwrite the amount on an estimate. Do not be concerned; this is only an estimate of the cost. We will take care of any additional charges with them directly.
- Hansen Auto Body is PRO-CONSUMER, not anti-insurance. We are here to protect your rights concerning collision repairs. They have proven they cannot be trusted to do the right thing without someone making sure. Ask the people of Louisiana.
