What separates Hansen Auto Body from other repair facilities?
We are family owned and operated, so you will always be speaking with one of the owners. We know who our customer is: the vehicle owner, not the insurance company. We work for you to ensure your vehicle is repaired 100 percent back to pre-loss condition. Our reputation is at stake on every repair we perform, so you can rest easy knowing that your vehicle will perform as it was originally designed should it ever be involved in another collision. Our reputation is at stake on every repair we perform.

By state of Connecticut law, you have the right
to have your vehicle repaired at a facility of your choice.
No one may interfere in that choice.

I was in an accident. What should I do next?
Call us and we will arrange to have your vehicle towed to our facility if it is unsafe to drive. If your vehicle is drivable, we will schedule a time call the insurance company to set up the claim together. We deal with insurance companies on a daily basis, so we can help make the process as easy and hassle-free as possible.

My vehicle was towed from the accident scene. What do I do now?
Call us and we will arrange for the vehicle to be towed to our facility. We will also take care of any of the charges.

Can I have rental car during repairs?
If you need a rental, we will be more than happy to arrange for one. Insurance companies only pay for the rental if you have that option on your policy or if you are a claimant. We can find out this this information for you.

Who is a claimant?
You are considered a claimant if your claim is being handled by the other person's insurance company.

Is there a warranty on the work performed?
Yes, we guarantee all repairs with a Lifetime Warranty.

What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How will I know when repairs will be completed?
We will give you an estimated repair time at drop-off, but we will keep you updated throughout the entire repair process.

Will the paint match the existing color?
Yes. We use the finest paint system available, which includes constant upgrades in technology and equipment to match even a brand-new car's finish.

Why are there differences in prices between body shop estimates?
There can be many reasons for this, such as items or parts missing on one estimate but included on another. Remember, do not shop by price concerning collision repair, but on your trust in the facility to repair your vehicle correctly. Most repairs are paid through insurance, so your only cost is the deductible unless you are a claimant. If you are the claimant, then there is no cost to you.

What is a concierge service?
This is an attempt by the insurance company to control how your vehicle will be repaired. You will not have any contact or knowledge of who is repairing your vehicle and where or how the work is being done. Our customers have come to trust our judgment in the repairs to their vehicles, similar to how they feel about their medical doctors - both of us are licensed professionals. Would you trust a stranger to look after your child's health?

What is a DRP or Network shop?
These shops have a deal with insurance companies. In return for referrals, the shops will provide discounts to the insurance companies, not you, and agree to repair a vehicle according to how the insurance company wants. They are a part of the network not because of the quality of their work, but for financial reasons, which only benefits the insurance companies and not you. These shops have a big conflict of interest. In our opinion, nothing good can come from this. Stay away!

What is an aftermarket or quality replacement part?
It is any part made by another manufacturer other than the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

What is an LKQ or Recycled part?
It is a used part from another vehicle.

What is a deductible?
It is the portion of a repair that you will be responsible to pay the repair shop. It is always the first portion of the cost, and then your insurance kicks in. The amount varies, depending on your policy. Think of it as your co-pay, such as with medical claims.

What is betterment?
Betterment is a charge that some insurance companies may apply to parts that will require replacement because of the accident, but normally are subject to wear and tear (for example, tires and suspension components). This is determined by the insurance company and is prorated by mileage.

What is the ABAC?
It stands for the Auto Body Association of Connecticut. Members of this association are dedicated collision repair professionals and are here to protect the motoring public.

What is the ASA?
It stands for the Automotive Service Association. The owners and managers of automotive service businesses that belong to ASA agree to adhere to a Code of Ethics. ASA's Code of Ethics is the automotive service industry's standard for professional business practices.
